Ways to go to Belo Sur Mer
To get to Belo Sur Mer is not that straightforward if one is traveling solo and on a budget. However, it is possible!

From Morondava to Belo-sur-Mer by the sea
It is possible to go by the motor boat or by local fishermen’s pirogue (wooden sailing boat) [See the post on pirogues] [See the post on sailing down the Madagascar west coastline], but these options are expensive. If NGO motor boat is in town you might try to get on board as well. Price for motor pirogue, which will typically be offered in the hotels: 580.000-600.000Ar, 2-3 people, 4 hours trip.
From Morondava to Belo-sur-Mer by road
By renting the 4×4 (70-90 Eur depending on your negotiation skills, which is shared by number of people), by taxi-brousse 25.000 Ar [see the special tip below/NEW POST?].
Pro tip: Is it possible to go to Belo-sur-Mer by taxi-brouse? The answer is YES!
Generally, one goes to Belo-sur-Mer from Morondava. Such a trip sounds expensive at first. Especially for a solo traveller. The group of tourists can rent a 4×4 with a driver and share the expenses. If one is solo, then the best shot is to talk to people to see if there is a group of westerners heading south to Belo-su-Mer and who would be willing to take another bee into the car. Asking in hotels and guides about taxi-brousse, one most likely gets the information that taxi-brousse for Belo-sur-Mer does not exist. All the locals are saying that one needs the 4×4 car, so one needs to rent it . The tourists (those on the way and in FB groups for example) are repeating this same thing. But it is possible! It just take one to realize that locals cannot pay 80 eur for a car (even if they share) and they still go down there on a regular basis. Taxi-brousse is next to the market. Go there and ask. Soon, there will be some taxi-brousse coming. Sometimes a NGO car needs to go to Belo-sur-Mer and it comes to pick supplies and locals for a regular local price. I ended up going by taxi-brousse, which was in fact rather good NGO 4×4 car.
